Status on the construction

We've invested a lot in the time we've known each other, but this project is still one of the biggest things we've taken on🤩 So here's a little update on the process (both good and bad)

We are the first to get wall hung toilets on the island, so it's been a bit of a longer process to get them installed and put in properly - but we are on track and they have completed 5 floors (out of 7). The bathrooms will soon be COMPLETELY finished with paint, worktops, shower, toilet, sink etc 🥹 The funny thing about this process is that many of the locals and builders are a bit nervous about whether it will last - but that's because they're not used to such toilets. They've made us sit on them and see if it holds, and then we've made them sit down and they've given a thumbs up. So that's something we've laughed about 😂

In addition, some of the windows we bought from China have been broken during transport, which has also prolonged the process. The new windows are on their way and will be received on the main island this week, but then they have to be released and that can take up to 10 days. Then it has to be shipped to Maafushi🌴

In addition to broken windows, the windows have also been placed incorrectly on some floors, which has caused challenges - which are now close to being solved! Unfortunately, we also have some mirrors for our bathrooms that broke during transport.

The tiles have been laid on all floors and they are in the process of grouting everything. So that's progress🤩

The lift is on its way from China and when it arrives it also needs to be released, transported and installed. This usually takes a little over a month. They are in the process of getting ready for the lift to arrive.

The Danish container has finally been received in the Maldives and released, so it has now arrived in Maafushi✨

Previously there were 3 boats that could deliver to the island. Now there is ONLY 1 boat, as Trump has increased the customs duties from the countries we have bought all our products/materials from. This is also lengthening the process as several ships with containers are queuing to unload their cargo.

The booking system is on its way, but we had to change the system just before it was launched. As the original system we had chosen had forgotten to inform that they were still in the testing phase... We wanted to get it right from the start, so we couldn't go with it. But fear not - we've found a new one and are working on getting something up and running soon.

We apologise for the slow process - but we really want to open the doors for you! We've therefore started doing stories on Instagram & Facebook where we show the challenge/highlight of the day. A project like this doesn't come without challenges and there are a lot of them, but now we're so far in the process that some things are starting to be finished all around us, so of course we're also doing highlights. See some of them in the pictures below🩶
