Our adventure

We are a Danish family consisting of Jane and Thomas Olesen and our three children, Frederikke, Josephine and Alexander, from Lystrup in the north of Aarhus, where we run a bakery and bakery shop. And now we also run a Danish family hotel in the Maldives.

We have travelled a lot with our children over the past many years. This has included many trips to the Maldives, which is why we have now embarked on a family adventure together with the children and built a Danish πŸ‡©πŸ‡° hotel in Maafushi Maldives. The hotel is due to open in autumn 2025.

The hotel is open for booking

We bought and took over a hotel building that was well underway and up to 3 storeys high.

The hotel was a largely raw shell when we took it over, which made it possible to radically change the floor plan, facade, window sizes, etc.

We have changed EVERYTHING.

One big thing is that we've added a lift to the hotel. This is important as we have built the hotel up to 7.5 storeys high with a large roof terrace.

The process has been a HUGE task, but also super exciting, as we can make our own mark right from the start. Just getting the building materials shipped to the island is a major task. We can't just drive to the Stark DIY store and pick up what we need. The hotel is now open - we opened in autumn 2025.

The layout of the rooms

We have built the hotel higher to 7.5 storeys, with balconies for most rooms, which has been our priority.

We can also offer rooms with connecting doors so that 4-5 people can stay together. This allows you to stay together as a family, which we have often needed during our own family travels. Otherwise, the rooms are for 2-3 people.

The style itself is cosy with a mix of Danish functionality, minimalist, bohemian style with a lot of natural materials from Indonesia. You wouldn't believe how many details you have to consider in this process... It has not been easy πŸ˜…

As you can see, it has become beautiful and cosy and everyone has worked hard to create the cosiest Danish hotel at Maafushi.

Bakery and restaurant

Our hotel naturally has its own bakery - as the master baker in Lystrup, we can provide the hotel with expertise that our guests will enjoy. We have also built a small bakery outlet, so you can buy cakes and bread from the street to take on excursions.

We also have a restaurant where we serve dinner dishes, which will be a mix of Danish and local cuisine, as well as delicious non-alcoholic cocktails.

We source the best ingredients and work closely with suppliers on the island. Delicious non-alcoholic cocktails and smoothies will also be part of what we serve. Temperatures are high in the Maldives, so hydration is important.

When you come to Oceana Paradise you can enjoy it all and taste all the delicious cakes, freshly squeezed juices and delicious food.
